Sex Therapy
Sex therapy is a specialized form of talk therapy designed to help individuals and couples address concerns related to intimacy, sexual health, and relationships. It provides a safe, judgment-free space to explore challenges such as desire discrepancies, performance anxiety, painful sex, erectile difficulties, sexual trauma, and more. At Be Known, our approach is affirming, sex-positive, and grounded in evidence-based practices. Whether you’re navigating physical challenges, emotional barriers, or communication roadblocks, sex therapy can help you deepen connection, improve intimacy, and cultivate a fulfilling sexual life.

What to Expect in Sex Therapy
Sex therapy at Be Known is a collaborative, structured process that mirrors traditional talk therapy in many ways while focusing on sexual and relational well-being. Sessions are about 50 minutes long and designed to help you address your specific concerns, set meaningful goals, and discover tools to work through them effectively.
Our first three sessions follow a structured process to set expectations, understand your background, and establish actionable goals:
- Session One: Setting the Foundation
- During your initial session, we’ll set expectations for therapy and discuss what brings you in. You’ll have space to share your concerns, and your therapist will begin gathering background information to understand your unique situation.
- Between Sessions One and Two: Assessments
- You’ll complete a sexual history assessment to provide your therapist with a detailed picture of your personal history and experiences. If you’re attending as a couple, your therapist will meet with each of you individually to review these assessments.
- Session Three: Goal Setting
- In the third session, your therapist will share their initial impressions based on the assessments and collaborate with you to create tailored goals for therapy. If you’re a couple, everyone will meet together to ensure the goals reflect your shared needs and individual desires.
These goals will guide the rest of your therapy journey as we explore practical tools, research-based insights, coping strategies, and more to help you heal and grow.
